I much prefer the smaller Christmas celebrations, like the Candlelight Posada the city used to hold at our oldest park. There would be a parade coming down Main Street, which I enjoyed watching. Then it was on to the park itself, where numerous food booths serving delicious food lined its perimeter. You could get a lot of tasty fare like hot dogs, funnel cakes, turkey legs, hamburgers, desserts, etc. And Santa Claus would come, along with the the procession of Mary and Joseph coming into the park. It was festive but limited to just the downtown area; people could still get where they needed to go without any hassle.
