Great article and nice post, Mr. Watson. The impacts of slavery are worth reflecting on for more than just this moment in time. There is a great series of articles called “1619” in the New York Times going on right now. Each article helps tell the story that we have Disney Lion King Timon are you achin’ for some bacon shirt for too long. Be it out of shame, denial, or ignorance, we have not made this story a part of the history lessons we teach our children. The shame in that is it unintentionally (or perhaps intentionally) helps perpetuate the stereotypes and prejudices that allowed it to happen in the first place.
